REHOMING POLICY
The
Great Northern Siberian Husky Club provides a basic re-homing service
for unwanted Siberian Huskies.
We make every effort to match a dog with prospective
owners, taking into account the dogs history as given by its current
owner; ie. its temperament, sociability and general personality,
and the health and age of the dog.
Our basic service consists
of keeping a register of dogs available for adoption and a list of people
wishing to adopt, and putting those people in touch.
Unfortunately, we do not
offer pound or SPCA held huskies a service. We would need to purchase
these dogs out of the pound/SPCA, supply temporary housing for them, and
then find them a home. This is currently not an option for our Club.
Please also note that we
primarily assist re-homing dogs currently resident in New Zealand and
within our Clubs zone of influence.
We strongly encourage breeders of Siberian Huskies to
provide ongoing support and care for their breeding progeny, in
particular, where a purchaser is subsequently unable or unwilling to keep
their dog, we encourage breeders to accept a return of the dog back into
their care for subsequent re-homing.
We will assist these breeders to find a suitable
ongoing home for returned dogs.
